He never talked about the war, except for one time where his troop took in a dog from being killed for food. It was a cute little pooch! Hubby and I went to a Civil War Remembrance today. We teared up when the calvary rode up with an actual US flag that came from one of the battles. It was tattered and torn, but still waved proudly. A great big thank you to all who served, so that we could all be FREE! He NEVER spoke of it and growing up, when we needed to wake him, we would stand far away and call him. He would literally jump a couple feet up. I can't imagine the terror those young men dealt with daily. Unfortunately, freedom isn't free.
God Bless America.
Hugs :)
LaurenRugs and Pugshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17084387971128823025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2649254129565958928.post-73575087636099562662013-05-27T10:55:31.484-04:002013-05-27T10:55:31.484-04:00My father also served in the Army Air Corps as an ...My father also served in the Army Air Corps as an aerial photographer, I believe based in Iceland and/or Greenland.
