Much to do...

The tree is up...but not decorated. I have not even begun to wrap...probably because I'm not finished with the gift list. Most years Christmas is easy...I'm organized and not stressed out and crazy. This year is not one of them! I'm not checking things off my to do list as readily as usual, and I feel panic laying wait in the  corner...just waiting to pounce.

But, I lost a friend this week...after a valiant, five year battle with an overwhelming opponent...breast cancer. So...what gets done will have to do, and what doesn't get done...just doesn't.

This morning I will tackle the immense pile of laundry I can see from here...mounds generated from our recent trip out of town...and I will do so with great joy. Joy, because I have a family that needs me... because I can see my lovely red geraniums on the patio as I fold towels...because Christmas is coming...ready or not.

First, I will light a bayberry candle for my friend.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

Gingerbread ship...

Our family has been in Amelia Island, Florida for a few days. This magnificent ship is in the lobby of the hotel and is made of real gingerbread and icing. It smells wonderful!

The bakery chef begins work on this lovely vessel in October. The pieces are made separately and assembled onto a wire frame. It really is a wonder to behold and impresses all who see...and sniff it.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

Bits of red...

This fellow is one of my favorite sheep...

...and a few of his relatives.

A few baskets wearing their red Christmas socks.

           Enjoy the day,

My kitchen window...

    Tina Woltman Santa

This is a shot of my kitchen window last Christmas...my header pic shows the beginnings of this years decorating. My window looks out into our sun porch, and then on into the backyard. I change the vignettes in this little space all the time since I spend so much time here. Somehow, standing here, looking at the things I love makes all those daily chores a lot more fun. I'll show more of this window in future posts.

#1 thing I have learned in the short time that I have been blogging...hide stuff...like cords...and stems. I'm working on it.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

A little Christmas...

A partridge in a little tree in the kitchen,

...Belsnickle readies himself for a long night,

...and a red bird in a fir tree atop the fridge.

It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas. The weather has cooperated as well. We have been having some cooler weather the last few days ...always welcome, and sure to bring the spirit of the season along.

Enjoy the day.

...AND GREEN

As I mentioned in my last post, I really love red. I also love green...and the two together...WOW!

Is everybody in the decorating mode?

Putting things together slowly here, and loving all the red and green.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

I LOVE RED

I love red! Anything red...flowers, shoes, lipstick...will do. The wonderful doll above was created by Angela Hillstrom of Olde Raggs USA. I am lucky to own several creations made by this gifted folk artist. This little girl seems to love red too.

Anyone else out there love red?

Christmas is coming...lots and lots of red!

Enjoy the day,
Robyn
