Steeples, Finials and Weathervanes

Cow Weathervane

Let me begin by saying I am not a photographer...I'm a tourist. These photos were taken on the fly, and at the time I had no idea I'd be sharing...but they do show the beauty of our country...the beauty of the small things that are around us every day..the simple beauty of a simple subject. To see more detail, enlarge the photos.

When I travel I take a lot of photos. There are a few things I search out when I go to a new place...one is cemeteries...I've shared a bit of my love of old tombstones in an earlier post. Another thing I like to take photos of are church steeples and finials. Here are some of the many wonderful church steeples,  finials and weathervanes I've photographed...mostly in New England.

One of the added pleasures of taking pictures while looking up...beautiful skies.

The three following gold domes are similar, but appear on three different churches. The most well know is the cricket atop Faneuil Hall in Boston. For some reason when I look at these I think of wedding cakes!

When you are out and about today...look up!
Enjoy the day,

  2. Hi Robyn,
I think photography is definitely one of your many talents!!
The photos are really wonderful and the steeples and weathervanes are amazing!! Thanks for sharing!!
Sadly, when I look up today, the only thing I see is snow and freezing rain, but I do know that there IS sunshine up there above the clouds!!
    Have a lovely day!!
    Blessings~~

  4. These are positively glorious Robyn! I have a thing for old cemeteries and tombstones, but we don't have many finials or steeples in these parts. Probably a good thing I don't live in an area where there are, as I suspect I'd be running into many a thing and tripping over curbs left and right. ;o) Thanks for sharing!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
