Been pulling a few loops every day on Libby Bert. Happy with the progress so far.
This rug has a total of five colors...red, blue, white, gold and a wee bit of green. The different shades...saturations...of each of these colors give movement to the background and, I hope, a little zip to the other motifs. When working with such a limited pallet, it's a challenge to keep things "interesting".
I'm considering leaving the top and bottom of the original pattern off...hooking a border of red and white...turning this rug into a large pillow. At least that's what I'm thinking today!
Happy Flag Day!
Enjoy the day,
Robyn
Robyn,
ReplyDeleteThis piece is turning out beautiful. I'm so intrigued by the colors you used in the bottom flower - I just love how it flows together. I also like the idea of only a few colors used in the rug, but using shades of each. Can't wait to see it done. ~Ann
Happy Flag Day to you.
ReplyDeleteLiking it alot..Great job!

Oooh, I love those flowers! The limited color palette doesn't seem to be a bad thing with this one. The colors blend together to give the impression of lots of colors IMO. Gorgeous so far! I like your idea of the pillow too.
ReplyDeletelove your piece great flow and colors.

ReplyDeleteHi Robyn,
ReplyDeleteI looove this rug...and such Patriotic colors - perfect for Flag Day!
In regards to your comment on my blog...I DIDN'T DECIDE LONG...even though my site was on hold while I did the wholesale order I thought I'd close it at the end of the year.
I had a horrible Migraine headache all night - one that made me sick and when I finally got up I said to myself...TIME TO QUIT! lol Guess it was the mood I was in.
Hugs,
Karen
Really? Only 5 colors??? Could have fooled me.....I stink at colors....My friend (the hooker designer) asked me one day to "straighten" and "arrange" her wools.....Wow....talk about a challenge....Besides having to resist the temptation to just "fondle" everything, I actually had to puzzle over color families. After a while, she looked at me in the strangest way and said "you don't see colors like I do, do you?" Hmmmmmm.....guess the secret's out..... Can't wait for your finish. Time for this Robin to pick up her hook again me thinks.....Hope my mojo decides to come home soon....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
