A Southern Colonial Christmas

This year my Christmas decorations are embracing my Southern roots. After Thanksgiving dinner every year we head out to pick greens. Usually we just find pepper berries...this year we scored magnolia leaves as well. Nothing says "Southern" like magnolias.

I worked on the mantle today. The Carole O'Neill painting is one of two oil paintings I have that were painted by this talented artist. It is her version of an Edward Hicks painting...one of the many paintings he did titled  Peaceable Kingdom.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. With Thanksgiving comes another blog anniversary for Mugwump Woolies. As M.W. begins it's fourth year, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to visit...and especially taking the time to say hello.

And so...the adventure continues.

Are you decorating...baking...shopping and wrapping?

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

  3. Robyn,
Your mantle is beautiful as always.
A long, long time ago (in another life when I was married and we had a house in Florida), I loved gathering pepper berries and bringing them back to Ohio. I do miss them.
Congrats on 4 years of blogging. I so look forward to your posts.
    Hugs :)

  11. I live in the south also at a higher latitude though here in NC. We have lots of pepper berries and magnolias! Since your mantel has natural elements I am enamored of your design! I may try this adding in some boxwood from trimming I need to do! I noticed the sampler on the table. Can you share the pattern with us? I have one Christmas Sampler I am completing now by Lori from Notforgotten Farm. It is more primitive monotone, rectangular. But I like the brighter colors in the one you have displayed, so if you can share the pattern it would be appreciated much! Beautiful display and Carole's painting is lovely and fits right in there perfectly! Thank you. Karen in NC

    1. Hello, Karen...I have lots of boxwoods in my yard and use them all year for decorating...especially at Christmas. The sampler is an antique one so there is no pattern...sorry. I would like to learn to chart my antique samplers, so someday the pattern might be available. Thanks for coming by M.W. and for your kind words. Robyn

  12. Your decorating is 'Classically Beautiful'. Edward Hicks is one of my very favorites and his 'Peaceable Kingdom' is always at the top of my list. Your home is very warm and festive looking.

Enjoy the day and say Hi to Annie...
