Is that a wabbit?

We have a family of rabbits living in our Confederate Jasmine bush. They have raised lots of baby rabbits right here, in our little slice of suburbia. They are a constant source of entertainment for us...at all hours of the day and night. We put food out for the squirrels, and, on occasion, the rabbits join them for an evening snack. When the squirrels got "squirrelly" and raced around, the rabbit...in these photos...jumped a foot off the ground. We were delighted by the show.

Mostly, they hang out in the backyard and eat the rabbit food we put out for them.

4th of July?...already?

It's looking patriotic at my house these days. The folk artist in me is gearing up for the Fourth of July. The wonderful little shop that sells my wares will be having it's Summer Open House in early May. Antiques On Main will be decked out in red, white and blue, and it's front window will be full of wonderful primitive goodes. 

I need to get sewing! I need to finish that rug! I need to get going on my Spring cleaning! 

I need to get off the computer!

Angels among us...

Here are more New England gravestones...angels. The season of Lent is here. We look forward to Spring...new beginnings, fresh starts, new life. While we wait...prepare...maybe we will entertain angels unawares...

...a neighbor of mine, one I'm not always happy with, blew the leaves off my sidewalk and driveway yesterday...

...after a dinner function on Saturday night, our hostess gave me the floral centerpiece to take home to Annie...

...my daughter made Valentine's Day cards for her favorite people that work at our local grocery market...

They are out there...

...you just have to be aware.

Happy Birthday, George!

I miss the days when George had a special day all his own. As a student of history, I know George was our first president...and, for the most part, did a good job. As a Virginian myself, there are parts of my state's history that trouble me greatly. That said, Mount Vernon is a wonderful place to visit. Within the last decade, a museum was added to the property and it is spectacular...George's teeth are there!

When people tell me they are going to D.C., I always recommend they go to two places that are often over looked...Ford's Theater and Mount Vernon. I am sure the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument are top spots for visitors to D.C....and they are magnificent...but Ford's Theater and Mount Vernon...these two great men actually walked these sites...and died there as well. They are history!

The silhouette above, along with it's mate Martha, was a wedding present to my parents. They have hung in every house my parents owned...and now hang in mine. I've added a few to the group as well.

And for those of you who have never been there...a few photos of George and Martha's place on the Potomac.

Annie's companion, Clancy, has been with her for twenty one of her 25 years...he goes everywhere she goes!

...for the birds

Collections...we all collect something...fishing lures, quilts, stamps, first editions, parking tickets???...most people have enough interest in something to want to gather more than one of that something and call it a collection. One of my collections...early bird tin cookie cutters. I have other cutters too, but the birds have really taken over.

  the more folky, the better, so I am really drawn to anything with a ruffled edge and a flat back.
