...for the birds

Collections...we all collect something...fishing lures, quilts, stamps, first editions, parking tickets???...most people have enough interest in something to want to gather more than one of that something and call it a collection. One of my collections...early bird tin cookie cutters. I have other cutters too, but the birds have really taken over.

Pea fowls...two of my very favorites...
the more folky, the better, so I am really drawn to anything with a ruffled edge and a flat back.

...large five inch bird

...close cut flatback

...a robin?

What do you collect? Share with us why that "something" drew you in, and made you want to find more.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

  4. Robyn, be still my heart.....I love all of your cookie cutters! You have some really great ones. I love pantry boxes and can't seem to have enough of them! They look good stacked or by themselves and can be useful for storage. Hugs, Lori

  6. Robyn ~
What a great collection of bird cutters. I don't think I've never come across ones such as yours in all my years of antiquing. When I first started buying antiques (many, MANY years ago) and I really didn't have a clue, every time I went to an antique show or shop I never left empty handed. I'd either buy a cookie cutter or an a butter paddle. I would still recommend that approach to a beginning collector on a limited budget.
Your header rug is amazing! The bird cutters are great inspiration for some little hooked mats.
Hope your weekend is a stellar one.
    Hugs :)

  7. Oh Girlfriend - you are a kindred spirit....Your bird cookie cutter collection is AMAZING!! I, like Lauren, started collecting flatbacks when my husband told me I couldn't bring home any more furniture. But my collection pales in comparison to yours. I only have 3 or 4 birds and none as wonderfully folky as yours....I am putting a post together now of one of my other collections, but was having problems loading photos, so thought I'd pop over and catch up with you....and this is just freaky weird!! Love your collection of cutting boards too!! Smiles & Sunday Hugs ~ Robin

  8. What a great collection. I'm so indecisive and change my mind every time I start a collection, therefore, no collections! I so enjoy your photographs and posts.
