...stay safe

Living in Florida, we are quite aware of the uneasiness and trepidation an impending storm can bring.
For all of my friends out there preparing for Sandy...you are in my thoughts...be safe. And try to...

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

P.S.  Yesterday I was a good citizen...I voted. :)

Next....

On Saturday, I delivered my Christmas creations to Dade City, in what will be the last Mugwump Woolies for 2012. The Christmas shopping season will begin in this little Southern town on Saturday, November 3rd when they hold the annual Christmas Tear Down...merchants close, and windows are covered on the Friday morning before as the shops are transformed into Christmas wonderlands. Come Saturday morning, the paper is torn down and the Christmas Season officially begins. It's a fun day!

I don't know about you, but around this time I'm ready to move on to Thanksgiving. I love Halloween, but it's been orange and black, and cats and witches around here for a very long time! Yesterday, a few of my German turkeys came out of their hiding places and began the annual line up on the sideboard in our dining room.

In no particular order...straight out of their wrappings...they gathered together. I have a "thing' for turkeys...especially these old, worn lovelies. The rest of our turkeys will appear after the 31st, but for now, these feathered fowl will stand guard right here.

This year, I am determined to relax and enjoy the holidays a bit more than usual. I say this every year , but this year I am actually doing it already! With everything delivered early, I've spent the evenings whipping the edges of my "Our House "rug...and pulling some wool for my Leo rug...two projects long neglected.

We have lots of things on the calendar coming up in November and December, including the wedding of one of our thirteen nephews...we also have three nieces...in December. We'll be seeing family members we have not seen in a long while and we are looking forward to it.

Then, there is the search for the perfect tree...the writing of the "List"...we still have a believer here...the decking of the halls...it's coming fast...are you ready?

It feels so good to not have a deadline!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend...and thanks for coming by and saying hello.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

last notes from Atlanta

Mr. Mugwump has been reading The Adventures of Brer Rabbit to Annie since she was tiny. He would tell them to her when she was small enough to ride in a backpack, on his  back, while they explored our local park. She brings a copy in the car when she knows they will have a little time to read while I pop out to run an errand. When we were in Atlanta a few weeks ago, we made a return trip to the home of Joel Chandler Harris...the author of the Uncle Remus Tales. This was Annie's choice...her pick of the trip. A delightful guide told us all sorts of fun facts about the man and the tales he created. Since we have a copy of the book from a previous visit twenty years ago, Annie picked a t-shirt as a remembrance of our day.

Annie beamed the entire visit.

Piedmont Park was Mr.M.'s choice. This beautiful spot in located right in Midtown Atlanta. If you've seen the movie Life as We Know It, this is where "Messer" went for a run early in the movie.

This park "feels" like Central Park in NYC...and was designed by the son of Central Park's designer. We had a long walk around...Mr.M. had already run his morning eight miles here at sunrise.

There are advantages to "bringing up the rear", my whole world is in front of me.

Have a great weekend...thanks for stopping by and saying hello!

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

...and sprigs of holly.

Working on Christmas with my favorite colors.

Squirrels and cats and witches

We are squirrel people. We spend a lot of time being amused by the antics of these silly little critters as they dart about our yard. They also have made their way inside the house. We have a Papa Squirrel, Mama Squirrel, and Baby Squirrel that have taken up residence in an old dough bowl on our dining room table.

...an early Halloween cat cutter

And here are the seasonal creations of some of my favorite folk artists.

This is Mrs. Begg by Kim Bour...

....and this is Mrs. Begg by Mona Holland...I fall hard for Mrs. Begg every time I see her...I guess that explains why I have two versions of her by two talented artists...Mrs. Begg is a Pineberry Lane pattern.

This lovely witch is by Rebecca Lindquist of The Simple Quiet. Some of my favorite colors all in one place in this beauty.

And this fine lady is by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm.

My Fall decorating has been in dribs and drabs this year...amazingly disjointed...much like this post....much like my brain at this point in time. I've been working on Christmas Mugwump Woolies for weeks and I'm having trouble recollecting what day it is, much less what holiday my decor should reflect. Tis the season for muddled minds!

Enjoy the day, (Thursday, right? 10/11/12)

Crabapple Festival

Before coming home from Georgia yesterday, we had a big day out on Saturday...we attended the Crabapple Festival in Alpharetta. This is a good old fashioned festival, held annually, complete with lots of crafts and antique dealers...and it all takes place at  Millie Huckabay's American Country.

That's Millie sitting on the porch of her shop...on the left, in the background.

Millie's shop is wonderful...one of those places that when you walk in...your heart beats a little faster!

Millie kindly gave me permission to take photos...so here are a few for you to enjoy.

So much to see...a wonderful mix of antiques and prim goods and folk art!

Here are the goodies that came home with me...an early book, a yummy Fall mix that smells divine,
a very early pewter measure....

...and a lovely pair of Jacquelyn Trone watercolors.

Hope you enjoyed visiting the Crabapple Festival...we sure did!

Mr. M. and Annie each got to pick something fun to do while in Atlanta, and I'll be back to share their picks later in the week.

As always, thank you for coming by and saying hello...I'm behind in my visiting, but I'll be trying to catch up this week.

Have a great week!

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

House Hunting with my girl...

I love waking up in a hotel in the heart of a large city! The hustle and bustle in the street below is fun to watch...this is the view from our room at the Four Seasons in Atlanta.

Yesterday, Annie and I ventured out to the gorgeous area of Atlanta known as Buckhead. Buckhead is full of wonderful older homes...on lovely hilly, winding streets. This was our favorite!

Annie and I have a tradition when we travel...we house hunt and take pictures of our favorites.

We spotted some beauties on our drive yesterday.

...love the worn white paint on this Southern beauty.

...lots of ivy all over.

We spotted a yellow front door just like ours!

After our home tour we hit some great antique shops, full of wonderful Southern antiques...we didn't spend a cent...but had a fun time looking.

Have a great weekend!

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

Georgia on my mind...

These are some of the sights we enjoyed today as we traveled through Southern Georgia. It was cloudy...with rain...and cooler as we drove through this Old Southern Lady.

Miles and miles of cotton fields line both sides of the highway.

This trip, the hotel is a winner...a real peach!

Travel Tip...did you know you can ask Housekeeping to remove the Mini Bar items...leaving a nice little fridge for your own use?

They sent up a complimentary"treat" for Annie. Very colorful!

I'll be back soon. Good Night from Atlanta!

Enjoy the evening,
Robyn

Ahhh...October!

Don't you love October?

Today, I thought I might share some pics of my Mugwump Woolies from 2010. I usually have some sort of theme to glean a little inspiration from...that year it was witches...in shoes...

...and frames.

The Girls

These girls are spending the glorious month of October in their new homes and are happy to be there. Last year the theme was "cats"...and, regretfully, I did not take pictures.

Enjoy the day,
Robyn
