Bah Humbug!

Humbug...went to take a few pics of Christmas around here and my camera screen is black. I've done all the trouble shooting to no avail. I guess I'll be shopping for a new camera this weekend.

So I'll continue the "purge". The relentless quest to de-clutter!

Don't you love it when Thanksgiving comes early? An extra week to get ready for Christmas is a big plus! I cleaned out a good deal of Christmas decorations last year and continued the process this week. I was determined to eliminate more boxes. Those Radkos I collected in the 90's...gone to the Salvation Army. Santa's...angels...greenery...packed up and headed to new homes via my favorite charity. I've been undaunted in my quest to eliminate clutter...even clutter in the attic that I can't see.

I am resolute in my quest to simplify! I am down to six of those large red and green storage containers...and a few small containers for things that are fragile. SIX??? That's about five too many even though some of them are only half full. Heading back to the garage to continue gleaning the piles!

Hope to see you soon with some "Bits of Christmas".

                                                         Enjoy the day,
                                                              Robyn

    1. I so agree! When I donate something I always send it along with a wish that it will bring a little fun into the life of the new owner. Pass on the joy your goodies gave you!

  2. I was thinking that today as I stood and stared at boxes of books than my DIL returned. I am going to do that too. Just get rid of the clutter. I did my Christmas stuff last year. Its so nice to have less.
Have a lovely week, and yes, I do love having an extra week.

  4. Hi Robyn,
I LOVE your header!! How frustrating about your camera! I’m afraid mine be on its last leg, too! Hope you find a good one! I have donated many things with the hope they will bring joy, but somehow I still have so many things with special meaning that I just can’t let go of! Thanks for being such an inspiration!
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Heart Hugs to you and Annie~

  5. Good for you! It's not an easy task to begin but once started, there's no stopping. I donated to the nursing homes and abuse shelters and they were thrilled with the trees and decorations. Made me feel better about giving them up.

  6. I fondly remember my childhood when we had very little and there was no clutter... Now we are bursting at the seams with too much of everything.

Decluttering is difficult when memories are attached to the items, but I agree, less is better. It's difficult to listen to this philosophy. A few quality items of interest is more powerful than a whole bunch of meaningless decorations and yet I still have difficulty parting with them. I purge each year but I always add a few new pieces. Not making any progress, always in a rush...

Blessings on you, Annie and Mr. MW.
