Thank you...and other stuff.

Thank you to all who responded to my stitching sos...I so appreciate your taking the time to offer advice and insight. I am ever so relieved to find I am not the only stitcher out there with a fear of 40ct.!!!

Sadly, I have put poor Polly aside for now as I want to start the new year off with a finish, rather than a defeat. So...

...a simple marking sampler is just the fit.

Someday, I'm going to tackle the beautiful Jane Tindall...see her peeking out of the bottom right corner...someday...but she will be done on a larger count and I fear the finished size will be that of a bath towel as she is a big girl. Life is full of compromises.

In January, this is the view out my sunroom window...the flowering of the "kudzu". It's not really kudzu but is an equally invasive weed that covers everything...if you let it!

It is, however, very cheery and colorful.

Have a wonderful weekend...stay safe!

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

  1. I agree -- it's nice to go for something simple and I love what you chose. I don't like this invasive stuff -- but I haven't to admit it's pretty colorwise.

  2. I'm all for simple too. I love those floss colors.

The vine sure looks pretty. How fortunate to have blooms outside this time of year. Here the snow covers the ground and the trees and bushes are grey and bare. That's why I love having flowering plants in the house in the winter even though they are just old Poinsettias, Kalenchoes, Begonias and Geraniums left over from previous years.

  3. Robyn, I don't do much cross stitch because of my eye sight, but I enjoy seeing the pieces everyone else makes. The invasive vines are a nemesis. I honestly think they seek to cover the earth. We have kudzu, wild grapevine, poison ivy and oak, english ivy, honeysuckle, bittersweet, trumpet vine, and the thing I hate the worse is some type of white like a wild clematis vine. That stuff steals my breath when it is in bloom, and it goes everywhere. I look for the beauty, but don't like the battle to keep it under submission.
hope you have a great weekend.

  8. Polly will have to wait ... The sampler is looking wonderful. I have two plants of bittersweet in pots here in the Mojave Desert. I am struggling to keep them going and it is an invasive plant but, I do not think the Mojave will let it takeover. One plant has the berries the other does not. So I am guessing that I must have a male & female plant necessary for pollination.

Keep safe & healthy with Peace and Blessings, Barb
