Less...

On Friday, the dishwasher died. On Sunday night, the dryer died. I've been playing phone tag with repair men and delivery men all morning. The dishwasher is two years old and has had one "computer board" replaced already. The dryer is not much older. Can you say "functional obsolescence"? How about "lemon"?

On a brighter note...my living room sofa and two wing chairs are getting a make-over this week.  I can't wait!

So...this Monday morning finds us

.........dishwasherless.........
.........dryerless.........
.........furnitureless.........

Now, I have to go wash and dry the breakfast dishes, and hang laundry on the line in the garage...and find a place to sit.

Have a great week!

Enjoy the day,
Robyn

  1. Ohhhh Robyn what a dilemma. I have found that when something goes on the fritz it makes me more aware of how much they are taken for granted and appreciated. Love your fabric choices. Can't wait to see them completed.
Hang in there lady and enjoy the day with Peace, Barb

  2. Sorry about the breakdown, it's never fun when that happens. Just be prepared that something else will break. It usually goes in three, the old Murphy's law.
We do take things for granted sometimes and we are brought back to reality when something like that happens, especially when the power goes out.
The new fabric looks beautiful. It's going to look fantastic.

    Hugs,
    JB

  3. Robyn,
I know it's not a funny situation for you to live without your conveniences but your last line was so cute! I hope you have them back in working order soon. Love the fabrics you've chosen for your furniture. I would love to recover our chairs some day. Funny now our taste changes over time. Have a great day. Hugs, Lori

  4. You know what they say - Everything comes in three's!
Our freezer went out after only having it 3 years. The service man said he recommended everyone to buy as much service protection as they offer. According to him appliances are now only made to last 3 years! If that is true then I am upset. Hard enough to afford new appliances without having to replace them every few years!
Love the upholstery fabric you picked out!

  5. Oh my Robyn what a start to your week!
    Love your fabric choices!

Hope your week takes a turn for the better!

  6. Hi Robyn,
I so appreciate your sense of humor in the midst of all the "break downs" around you!! We certainly grow so dependent on all those modern conveniences and it can really be hard and frustrating, but somehow SMILING helps us make it through!! We have all been there one time or another, to be sure!! Hope help is on the way!!
I too love your fabric choices! When I worked at New England Saltbox, we carried that fabric and it is wonderful!! Brings back happy memories!! I LOVE flamestitch and checks together!! It will be stunning!!
Wishing you a good (and "break down free") week!
    Warm Hugs~~

  7. Oh goodness that ole cliche 'when it rains it pours' seems to fit here!
Not sure why things like this happen all at once. Our problems like that always happen like the night before we are to go away on a trip - something like that...
I absolutely love your choice of fabrics for your furniture.
My loveseat is done in the black check and I love it.
Years ago we had a wing chair done in the flame design and loved it too.
    Blessings,
    Karen

  8. They just don't make things like they used to! Your furniture is going to look nice!

  9. Hee heee. I freely admit it that I am laughing, only because I understand. Ours was dishwasher then clothes-washer. Yeah, washing dishes by hand. Not a fan. Nor beating clothes down by the river on a rock. But hey! I have some bean bag chairs in my classroom you can borrow!

The fabric is very pretty! I can't wait to see the chairs!

    Blessings!

  10. I feel your pain....I had to live without a dishwasher for a oouple of weeks when it broke...and it felt like forever. LOL... On a brighter note, I absolutely love the fabrics you picked out. Can't wait to see your wing chairs...I've always loved that dark flame stitch.

  11. I was actually told by a repairman that they make appliances on purpose to only last about 7 years. On purpose. Great stuff, huh? Yours are even younger than that. So ridiculous. Good luck with all of that. Love the fabrics you're using for your reupholstery. Nice! Gorgeous!
