Pulled the last loop on "My House Sampler" this morning! She has been steamed and, fortunately, all the ripples did settle down so that she lies nice and flat. I've tucked the outer linen under for the pics if she appears bumpy.
I personalized the rug with our surname and the year we bought our home. It blends well with the grass and doesn't pop out at you, so your eyes see the entire rug at first glance, rather than one element.
The photos were taken with a flash so the mustard house appears a bit "electric", but in reality is more subdued.
A bird and a house... two of my favorites!
I am so glad that I stuck with it this time and finally finished this rug...feels great! Now, to get the edges whipped! Not looking forward to this task...at thirty by forty two inches this is a heavy rug!
Enjoy the day,

...Something about your work reminds me of Karen Kahle, the subtlety and the whimsy. Such wonderful work Robyn! :o)
Robyn, It is stunning. I like all elements in the rug - and just love the background. I've been drawn to backgrounds like this one that you've done. Thanks so much for sharing with us. ~AnnReplyDelete

It turned out so nice....just love the colors :)ReplyDelete
Your finish of "My House Sampler" is truly stunning!
Robyn, your rug turned out perfect! Love how you blended in your last name and date. It doesn't pop out at all yet you still can see them plainly. I love the colors. Birds and houses are my favorites too. Love them in samplers as well. I have Lori's Harvest Goode Things from Spruce Ridge Studios. I would love to get it hooked this summer. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, LoriReplyDelete
Robyn, this is FABULOUS... I love the colors. Mustard is the new black!ReplyDelete
Oh, my, Robyn, that is absolutely gorgeous!!! I LOVE IT! I actually have that rug, I traded a friend samplers for it, but I actually like your's better! The colors you chose are so yummy! What an accomplishment! Where are you going to put it?ReplyDelete
wow, that's just fabulous!ReplyDelete
Robyn ... it is charming. You are such a talented lady. My Grandmother Carrie was a hooker ... I tried, but just didn't have the knack for it. So now I will settle for admiring those that do.ReplyDelete
Keep up the good work and Enjoy...
Robyn your work is beautiful! Love your rug!ReplyDelete
What a beautiful finish, Robyn!ReplyDelete
GORGEOUS, Robyn - absolutely GORGEOUS!!! You're making me wanna hook again! Now that I see the finale, I'm glad you went with the beading for your surname. It's PERFECT!! Love the green you used for the grassy knoll. And really? You don't like whipping??? It's my favorite part! ;o) Smiles & Hugs ~ RobinReplyDelete
